Your Instructor
Brian Corrales, Sa Bom, brings more than 35 years of martial arts experience into his courses. He is a 6th Dan (Dan #36364) and certified Sa Bom — the highest teaching certification Soo Bahk Do offers, designating a "master model" instructor — in the art of Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan. He holds two national appointments from Kwan Jang Nim H.C. Hwang: member of the USA Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), and Moo Duk Kwan Heritage Liaison (appointed 2021), a role dedicated to preserving and passing on the history and traditions of the art.
His background is in the late Hwang Kee's Moo Duk Kwan system, known as Soo Bahk Do and Tang Soo Do. Kwan Jang Nim Hwang Kee founded the Moo Duk Kwan in 1945, and his system draws on principles found within Okinawan Karate, Tan Tui, Ba Duan Jin, Tai Chi, and Kwon Bup (as documented in the Moo Yei Do Bo Tong Ji) — the same lineage that forms one of the dominant elements of modern-day Tae Kwon Do.
Brian has completed the Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa — the Moo Duk Kwan's rigorous multi-day masters test — multiple times, most recently in Spain in 2026, following earlier testings in California and Switzerland. A lifelong seeker of knowledge, he brings the depth and breadth of that training into every course he teaches on the Digital Dojang.
